What are the benefits of pottery cooking food..? - FOOD ARTICLE

In Pongal, one of the traditional symbols in India, especially in Tamil Nadu, it is customary to dress in a puttada, knock on the door, and perform Pongal by the Buddha on the new earthenware.  Thus not only Pongal Thirunal but also pottery played an important role in daily use till the previous generation.  But, in the name of ‘civilization’ today, we have forgotten them all.  Even on Pongal, Pongal is often performed on duty in aluminum, eversilver and nonstick utensils.

In recent years, there has been a growing interest in traditional foods among the population.  In Manpanai, they make rice, fish curry, appam and paniyaram.  Instead of aluminum, copper and Eversilver utensils, pottery is used to cook them.  Customers love to cook and serve pottery in hotels.

Really, what's so special about our traditional pottery?  What is the reason for our previous generation to celebrate it?  We spoke to naturalist Brian Rathinasakthiveli.

“In the past, not only the utensils we cooked, but everything from the water utensils to the plate was edible.  Although many utensils such as iron, brass and bronze come in, for those who do not have the power to buy them, the only available utensils are red clay utensils.  However, in this civilized age, even in the villages, cooking on clay was less common.  Aluminum utensils and Eversilver utensils are used for cooking.

Manpanaiyila recipe knows the real taste of food.  Adota will be wonderful for those who have eaten it.  Earthenware does not spoil quickly.  There is no substitute for fish broth, especially in clay pots.  Not even a week will be spoiled.  Foods that are not kept in alcoholic beverages will not be diluted.  However, due to the nature of the clay, it does not dilute.

Realizing the beauty of Manpanai, even star hotels today do not miss Manpanai cooking.  Cities, not some hotels, ‘Manpanai Samayalinu’ to impress the Portuguese people.  On the one hand, the return of attention to the people on the other side is welcome.  In the same way everyone will feel what our ancestors said in the experience.

Not only this, with the help of fire you can do welding.  Use earthenware.  Similarly, our tradition is to celebrate Pongalvechu in Manpanai on the first day of the month.  Don't forget that. ”

What are the benefits of cooking and eating in clay?  We asked the naturopath Deepa.

“The taste of Pongal in Manpanai is unhealthy.  But, today we are celebrating Eversilver utensils and cooker.  Eversilver, I-Stick cookware can be harmful to the body, ”he said, describing the benefits of eating on clay.

“Natural foods, along with nutrients, can boost the immune system.  Properly covered, it will withstand a great deal of adverse conditions.  Clay cooking is not only traditional, it can enhance the taste without changing the nature of the food.  Food cooked in a clay pot is easily digested.  The presence of metallicity in the vessel now available changes the nature of the food.

In general, when food is cooked, important nutrients, including minerals in the diet, evaporate.  In particular, the chlorophyll in green vegetables evaporates easily.  However, when cooked in clay, the nutrients in it are available without wastage.

The heat penetrates the food evenly and evenly through the pores in the clay.  Thus food cooked in earthen pots will have the appearance of steamed food.  It is good for physical health.
Clay cooking does not require much oil.  It only takes in the essential oils of food.  This is also the main reason for physical health.

Today we use a separate utensil such as a utensil for cooking in the modern way of life, a hot box to keep warm, and a fridge to keep food from spoiling.  But even in the absence of any of these, clay itself was a natural refrigerator.  The water inside it continues to evaporate through the tiny pores in it.  The heat inside the pot and the heat in the water inside the pot are constantly evaporated so that the water inside stays cool.  So, just as the water in the fridge is frozen, so is the water in the pot.

Similarly, food cooked in clay does not need to be heated frequently.  Maintains a uniform temperature longer than other utensils.  Therefore, food cooked in clay will not spoil for a long time.

Also, it can increase the beneficial bacteria in the soil.  This is why in those days there was no problem in eating fish broth for up to a week.

Pots have the ability to balance the acidity of food.  Gives good appetite and good sleep.  Helps to prevent constipation.  Prevent infertility problem.  Earthenware helps to regulate blood vessels.  Relieves body heat.  Let's continue to layer the magnificence of the clay like this.  If you want to get delicious and healthy food, it is better to cook and eat in clay, ”says Deepa, a naturopath.
